Homeland Security

Those elected to the Congressional seat, along with the executive and judicial branches have a responsibility to protect the American. We must be able to prevent terrorism not only in the United States but abroad as well. Therefore, we must strengthen America’s biosecurity by identifying and intercepting any bioterrorist attacks. In addition, we need to make sure all health related industries are linked together to work effectively at responding to a bioterrorism attack. Also, we need to make sure we have the finest professionals working to create drugs and vaccines to protect the American people.

Other areas of concern are nuclear terrorism and preventing destruction of our infrastructure. Currently, both North Korea and Iran have access to nuclear weapon/capabilities programs and North Korea is attempting to increase their nuclear capabilities through long range missiles. We need to use diplomacy and offer incentives rather than sanctions to these countries as a means to world peace. Finally, we need to improve airport, chemical/nuclear plant, and port security. Americans should be secure in knowing that they are safeguarded when traveling on public as well as private transportation.

I propose we train our military and bring them up to date in weaponry, different languages and cultures, and coordinate complex missions to kill or capture known terrorists. On the other hand, I feel as though we should access homeland security risk and spend wisely rather than pork barrel spending. When it comes to something so important as protecting our great country, we need to ensure the funds are going where they are needed most.
